Cathryn Sullivan's Acting for Film at EveryBody Fits

Hi Actors, Actresses and Parents who Love Them!

I am writing this newsletter in L.A. as we are almost finished with most of the classes in May session. It was really fun to travel all over the country with Cody and watch he and many of my other students as they worked on these fun and exciting dream projects, but it was comforting to come back and work with my students here in Texas challenging and developing them.

I have such a great job! I love going to work each day to your children, my students, and I wonder who will be our next Demi Lovato, Cody Linley, Madison Pettis or Selena Gomez. Who will be the next break-out star or working actor who will rise above and move ahead? There is so much potential coming in and out of my classes everyday, but it is you and your child's diligence, patience, resilience, business etiquette, work ethic and above all- their love for acting that could make that possible.

I am looking forward to the intensive Summer Sessions as I've seen my students grow so much when they are working on their acting skills everyday! I see a huge learning jump in many of my students! Look for your child's class. There are even a few weekend intensives for those of you who work during the week. Look for them.

Blessings,
Cathryn Sullivan

BOOKINGS:
Lots of bookings even though there is the threat of a Screen Actor's Strike although some say it is looking more promising than ever right now. Let's keep our fingers crossed and hope negotiations go well.

I went on the set of Word of Promise yesterday with my hubby watching our son, CODY LINLEY where he has worked very hard almost everyday and has been for the last several months. His JAKE RYAN DOLL came out in Target this past week. It's really cool!!! Buy a Cody doll! (HA!) The NEWEST news on Cody is that he was offered TWO movie projects this week. One is an independent film where he gets to play an edgy, quirky character (a lead) in a horror flick and he gets killed at the end. This movie was closed this week and the other movie starts late Summer/Early Fall where he will be a lead and it is a big movie! More to come on that. The bad news for US is that he won't be able to teach the Improv class in June since the movie will interfere, but possibly will be able to teach the last of July or first of August. More on that as his schedule gets clearer. He really misses teaching and wants to make it work, so don't give up!

For fun, in Cody's spare time (which is rare), He is working on a Youtube show called "The Ro and Co show" where he raps with another Disney friend from Camp Rock. (Check it out and go to www.youtube.com and put in "Ro and Co show"!)

His roommate, JOSH BLAYLOCK is working on a period piece/TV show right now in Georgia playing a half-Navaho Indian. It's called "The John Ross project" right now.

The other roommate, LOGAN HENDERSON is still on hold for a Nick project. Yes, you are right, it has been a long time that he has been on hold. Such is the life of an actor.

AUSTIN AND BEN LUX are in New Orleans right now playing Harry Connick's son with Renee Zellwegger Executive Producing! Cool, eh? Look on the wall behind where I sit in the Film 1 room and you will see new pictures. It is LOGAN MILLER on the set of "Ghosts of Girlfriends Past". Let's just say Logan is photographed with what People Magazine call one of the "Sexy Men Ever" (Hint: He always has his shirt off). Also in that movie was Jennifer Garner and Michael Douglas. MORE ON MY DISNEY KIDS: I talked to MADISON PETTIS mom last week and she said Madison worked on a film with Will Smith this year called "Seven Pounds". She worked on it after the film with Corbin Blue and before "Mostly Ghostly" which she just finshed recently. Busy girl!!

SELENA GOMEZ and JENNFIER STONE started work back on Wizards of Waverly Place the week after the filming of the Disney Channel Games and when I touched base with DEMI LOVATO's mom this week, she texted me that they were in Spain doing some international stuff with Disney. Word is that Demi's pilot called "Sketchpad" got picked up at Disney. It will go into a full-fledged show soon. She is doing a House of Blues tour now and is touring with the Jonas Brothers after that! ANOTHER BUSY GIRL!

SETH GINSBERGH booked a small role on Without a Trace. He and LINDSEY BLACK's show "As the Bell Rings" will be back on Disney soon! They shot a whole lot of shows this Spring. Lindsey touched base with me a few weeks ago and told me the Teen magazines were interviewing her and she was "SOOOO glad she did the interviewing sessions in class because they really helped her"! (I'm so glad!)

SAVANNAH GIPSON booked an independent film called Dixon Diaries. She gets to play a mean girl and it films somewhere in North USA.

AIDEN MARTINEZ-VITELA (who drove from San Antonio to Coppell for Film 1, 2, 3 and 4) just booked a short called "Runaway" and a time warner commercial.

TIFFANY MCMANUS has been busy. She booked two industrials for Reliant Health and Recession, Proof your Home. She also did a voiceover animation for a new toy, Queeties and landed a SAG film "A Tribute to Big Red". LAYLA ROSTAMI booked an independent feature shooting in Oklahoma called the Fourth Wall.

ZACHARY FRIEDMAN booked a small role in Prison Break and filmed it in LA. JADEN ROBERTS & DAWSON HOLDEN(?) did a Direct energy commercial. BRAEDEN KENNEDY voiced an animated character named Dash for PBS Island.

STEPHANIE SWART booked Sorry Sliders Hasbro commercial.

Cathryn Sullivan's Acting for Film
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

1. Which class should my child be in? Acting for Camera 1 or Film 1? Placement depends solely on the child's current age and current or just completed grade. Acting for Camera (AC) classes: Kindergarten through 3rd grade Film classes: 4th grade through 12th grade Please note, during the summer the student must have completed Kindergarten or 4th grade to be considered for one of these classes.

2. What if my child has previous acting experience or acting classes? Because our classes are progressive in nature, all students start with AC1 or Film 1. Some parents have expressed concerns that their child might be more advanced than the other students in the class because of their previous experience. We have found even the experienced actor gains new insight into his or her acting ability by following our progression of classes. In addition, our classes require some experience and Mrs. Sullivan keeps informed of all students taking classes in her program, even those that she does not personally teach. If there is a rare student that needs to move to a higher level class, the parent will be contacted. However, this is on an invitation only basis.

3. After finishing AC1 or Film 1, what next? Students move up to the next level within the same series.

4. What if my child took a previous Cathryn Sullivan's Acting for Film class but it was a while ago? Generally, if you are in beginning AC or Film classes, and it has been more than one year since you have taken your class, Mrs. Sullivan asks that you repeat the last class you took. In some cases, especially in Film classes, you may be asked to begin the series again if needed. Higher level students need to get written class placement by Mrs. Sullivan before registering for classes.

5. How do you transition from AC classes to Film classes? Once a student completes 4th grade, they may move to Film classes. Please keep in mind there is not a direct correlation between the numbering of AC classes and Film classes. Therefore most students start with Film 1 classes, unless they have completed AC3 or higher and then they start in Film 2. The reason for this is Film classes are not only progressive, but they are more challenging and demanding of the student.

6. How do we find out about upcoming classes? Make sure you are on our email list as this is how our class schedules are announced. To sign-up to receive emails go to www.EveryBody-Fits.com and click on Acting for Film and then Join our Mailing List.

7. When do we register for classes? We have what we call Registration Week. Registration is done by email only. Each level of class has an assigned registration day starting with Masters classes and working down to AC1 & Film 1 classes. During this week, we focus on class registration and payment only. Please understand, in order to get everyone registered in a timely manner, we will not be able to handle program questions during this week.

8. What is the registration process?

9. What is the email address for registration? Acting4Film@EveryBody-Fits.com
10. What happens if the classes that I try to register for are full? Occasionally this happens. Once a class is full, we begin a waiting list for that specific class, day and time. If there are any openings, we fill those spots in the order of the waiting list.
11. Why is there such a strict registration process?
We are frequently asked this question by new Acting for Film families. However, just ask some of the families that have been around for a while and you will understand. Mrs. Sullivan's classes are in high demand because the success of so many of her students. She is the "go to" acting coach for many LA casting directors and studio execs. Students come from all over the country to take her classes. In the old registration process, people would sit for hours (and some even slept in their cars) to make sure they got into the classes. The current registration process was designed to eliminate the amount of time you have to spend to register for a class, and it gives everyone the same opportunity. We are constantly trying to improve the systems so watch for more exciting changes in the future!
