OVERVIEW
The
Dazzlers organization was created in August 2008 by the
dance studio at EveryBody Fits to give an outlet to young
dancers to perform and further prepare for the Wranglerettes team
as well as their respective JV and Varsity Drill Teams. The program
is also a great way to build a strong technique for all levels
of young dancers. The Dazzlers team performs at a variety of venues
throughout Dallas/Fort-Worth.
All
members who are invited to join the team are accepted into the
recreational program that performs at a variety of venues throughout
DFW. Members who are interested in competing can audition to be
on the competition squad. These members will compete at several
local Drill Team competitons in the Spring.
WHAT
MAKES US DIFFERENT?
The
Dazzlers team differs from any other program in the area in providing
young dancers the opportunity to learn the art of dance and drill
team as well as allow those young dancers that want to perform
recreationally the ease of being in a low stress, fun environment.
We also allow those dancers that choose to compete the opportunity
to do so at local Drill Team competitions in the Spring. Dazzlers
also are both heavily involved in the other teams, the Sweethearts
and Wranglerettes in that the Dazzlers serve as "big Sisters"
to the Sweethearts and "little Sisters" to the Wranglerettes.
This big/little sister program allows the Dazzlers the opportunity
to mentor younger dancers (the Sweethearts) as well as learn from
older dancers (the Wranglerettes).
The
Dazzlers team also provides parents the opportunity to watch their
dancer perform at numerous events throughout the year (versus
just one year-end Recital). Additionally, the cost of being a
Dazzler is extremely cost-effective and it provides you and your
daughter with a lifetime of memories.
BASIC
INFORMATION
Purpose:
Through participation, the Dazzlers will promote good sportsmanship
and team unity. The Dazzler organization will work to develop
strong dance and performance skills in each of its members through
music and dance appreciation. All members will acquire time management
skills, commitment, and respect for one another.
Team
Member Requirements:
All Dazzlers are required to attend rehearsal from August -09
- May '10. All members are required to take a ballet and jazz
class at the appropriate level along with attending a 60 minute
weekly rehearsal. All competition members must also take dance
conditioning along with attending an additional 90 minute weekly
rehearsal.
It
is also highly encouraged that all Dazzlers take additional classes
throughout the year to further build technique. Thus, for all
Dazzlers, an unlimited class rate can be added to your monthly
tuition. With this package, Dazzlers may take as many classes
as they would like.
Dazzlers
will also have the option to attend workshops throughout the year
in the DFW metroplex. Workshops allow the dancers to obtain different
dance and teaching styles as well as meet other dance teams. All
workshops seen as beneficial to the Dazzler will be presented
by the Director and are optional to attend unless otherwise noted.
Workshops are not included in the Dazzlers monthly tuition. The
cost of each workshop will be given along with a registration
and payment due date.
It is asked that all Dazzlers stay on the team from August 2009-May
2010. If a member must resign before completing her term, it is
required that a formal letter be submitted via hand delivery or
email to the Director stating the members last day on the team.
All payments made to the team will not be refunded.
Length
of Team Membership:
Once you audition for Dazzlers, you are on the team for as long
as you like, or until you reach the 5th grade. You will not be
required to re-apply every year. For membership on the Dazzlers
competition squad, all members must reapply every year. Once team
members reach the 5th grade, the Dazzler has the option to audition
for the Wranglerettes Drill Team.
Performances
and Team Building:
The Dazzlers will perform at a variety of locations throughout
the year including (but not limited to) Lewisville Western Day
Parade, Coppell Youth Basketball games, City of Coppell Holidayand
4th of July Parades and at various community service events. All
Dazzlers on the competition squad will compete at local Drill
Team competitons in the months of February and March. The Dazzlers
will also perform at the dance studio's
year end Recital in May.
All Dazzlers are expected to attend all performances unless at
least two weeks prior notice is given to the Director. The Dazzlers
will have continuous team-building events throughout the year.
All team-building events are optional but participation is highly
encouraged. The cost of team-building events is not included in
the Dazzlers monthly tuition and an additional charge will be
given for each event.
Dance
Requirements:
-Ability to pick up a basic Pom combination: a four
8 count combination will be taught at auditions.
-Ability
to catch the judges attention when performing: meaning that
shoulders are back, chest is lifted, smile is consistent, arms
are clean and all movements are strong.
-Good
use of feet: meaning pointing the
toes on all moves.
-A
strong desire to dance and a strong work ethic: which means
to not get frustrated when things do not come quickly and the

as long as there is a desire to learn, you can accomplish anything!
2009
AUDITIONS
When:
Saturday, May 30th at 2 PM
Where:
the dance studio at EveryBody Fits
About:
-Please note that these auditions will be in a low
stress, fun enviornment and that the goal is to give all candidates
the experience of auditioning for a team as well as to give them
an idea of what the Dazzlers team is all about!
-Auditions
will start with a short warm up. Candidates will be asked to go
across the floor and show a variety of things including (but not
limited to) jazz walks, chaine turns, and jetes. A short pom combination
will also be taught.
-After
the pom combination is taught and reviewed, all dancers will have
a 20 – 30 minute break to practice the routines on their
own. No dancers can leave during this time however; they
can eat a small snack if desired.
-After
this break, all dancers will be given numbers and called in by
groups of 3 to perform the routines and show the judges their
routine. The choreographer will be doing the dance with
each group as we do not expect the candidates to know the dance
within a matter of only a few hours.
-There
is no set number of girls on the team. Membership will be
determined by a natural break of scores. This will depend
on the number of candidates and their score variations.
The candidates will audition in front of three qualified judges
in the field of dance and drill team.
-After
all dancers have completed the audition, the judges will meet
and the dancers will be released. The results will be posted
at exactly 6 PM on the front doors of EveryBody Fits.
-For
all dancers that are chosen for the team, a mandatory parent and
Dazzler meeting will be held on Sunday, May 31st at 2 PM to discuss
the Fall 2009 schedule, costs, summer class requirements and summer
camp as well as for members to accept their membership.
Dazzlers and parents must attend this meeting. If you/your
child cannot attend, please let us know immediately following
auditions. This meeting will also detail auditions for the Dazzler
competition squad for those that are interested in auditioning.
