Our
Trampoline & Tumbling (T&T) program uses state-of-the-art equipment and
makes us one of the most complete training centers in Texas. While competitive
Trampoline & Tumbling has existed for many years, it is a relatively new sport
to USA Gymnastics. Trampoline was just introduced as an Olympic sport during the
2000 Olympic Games. Athletes compete on three apparatuses in the T&T program:
trampoline, double-mini trampoline, and a tumbling rod floor. The Trampoline &
Tumbling Program is an exceptional vehicle to build physical strength, muscular
control, and overall body awareness. Texas Dreams Gymnastics now offers both recreational
and team T&T programs.
TRAMPOLINE
Our in-ground
competitive trampolines are 7X14 foot rectangles that can catapult an athlete
as high as 30 feet above the ground. During competition, the athlete performs
two competitive routines with ten skills each. High-level competitors can achieve
double, triple, and twisting somersaults.
DOUBLE-MINI TRAMPOLINE
The double-mini is a two-level trampoline. This event can be compared to springboard
diving using a mat instead of water. The athlete runs and jumps onto the trampoline,
performs a skill while landing back onto the trampoline, then springs from the
trampoline executing one more skill onto the landing mat. Competitors will do
two passes during competition and can get as high as 20 feet in the air.
POWER
TUMBLING
Power tumbling is done on an elevated, fiber-glass, rod-floor
runway that is 86 feet long and 6 feet wide. The rod floor enables athletes to
achieve high-flying, explosive skill with multiple flips and twists throughout
the run.
