About
Texas Dreams Team Gymnastics
Texas Dreams Gymnastics was established
in Coppell, Texas in 2001, by husband and wife team, Chris Burdette
and Kim Zmeskal Burdette. You are sure to recognize Kim Zmeskal's
name as she is a legend in the world of sports as the First American
Gymnast to Win a World All-Around Championship. She is a 3-time
World Champion and an Olympic Medalist.
In 7 short years, Texas Dreams Gymnastics has competed at and won
national and international competitions. And in the first Olympic
year that Texas Dreams had an eligible athlete, Kim and Chris coached
Chelsea Davis to the 2008 Olympic Trials and at 15 years old, she
earned her way to the 2008 Olympic Selection Camp.
At Texas Dreams there are several paths an athlete can take. Kim
and Chris coach the Dream Team, these gymnasts are elite and elite
hopefuls. Most of these athletes have come up through USAG’s TOPs
program; a program that Texas Dreams has had the most athletes named
to the TOPs National Team for four consecutive years. And in 2008
having a record breaking 12 athletes named to the National Team.
In addtion to a nationally recognized Elite program, Texas Dreams
Gymnastics has over 200 athletes on the girls and boys and trampoline
teams competing USAG Levels 4 – 10. With a strong pre-team and compulsory
program feeding the upper levels, Texas Dreams Optional gymnasts
are some of the best in the country. In fact, Coppell’s own, Liz
Green is the 2007 & 2008 Junior Olympic National Champion.
Our goal at Texas Dreams is to develop each individual's gymnastics
potential in a safe and fun atmosphere. We believe gymnastics helps
develop skills that can be transferred to many sports like: physical
strength, speed, grace, agility, balance, flexibility and a total
body awareness. This sport, like no other, teaches life lessons
in discipline, perseverance, and promotes self-confidence. At Texas
Dreams, we believe it all starts with a DREAM! Just ask Kim!
