Broadway Babes (ages 4-5)
- Introduces the preschooler
to imaginative movement, pantomime, and the very basics of theatre.
Intro to Stage Acting I (ages 6-8; ages 9-12)
- Introduces the child to
acting on stage. Includes pantomime, improvisation, stage presence, and more.
Stage Acting II (ages 7-9; ages 10+)
- Builds on the skills introduced
in Intro to Acting I. Includes pantomime, improvisation, stage presence, and more.
Stage Acting III (ages 8-12; ages 13+)
- More advanced stage acting techniques
are explored during this class. Stage combat, timing, character development, and
more.
Stage Acting IV (ages 10-12; ages 13+)
- Builds on the advanced skills
introduced in Stage Acting III. Includes stage combat, timing, character development,
and more.
Musical Theatre I (ages 6-8; ages 9-12)
- Introduction to the world of
musical theatre. Participants will explore the variety and evolution of musical
theatre, including current productions. Actors will also learn staging, movement,
choreography, and more. A short production will be presented at the end of the
session.
Musical Theatre II (ages 7-12; ages 13+)
- Builds on the skills and information
introduced in Musical Theatre I. Participants will continue to explore the variety
and evolution of musical theatre. Actors will also learn make-up techniques, staging,
simple dance choreography, and more. A short musical production will be presented
at the end of the session.
Musical Theatre Auditioning (voice)
- Every musical audition includes
a voice element. Actors select a song, and perfect it during this series. Accompanist
included.
Musical Theatre Auditioning (dance)
- Every musical audition includes a
dance element. Actors will learn a new combination each week and practice "auditioning"
with a dance coach.
Improv (ages 6-8; ages 9-12)
- The simple term improvisation means "the
acting of something made or said without preparation." In this class, participants
will learn how to think quickly, act with purpose, and work on stage in an unrehearsed
environment. Often in live theatre situations, things don't go quite as planned.
This class prepares the actor for anything!
Make 'em Laugh (ages 6-8; ages 9-12)
- Are you the class cut up? Learn
how to be the best from a real, professional clown! Explore the world of laughter
with a class about comedy! The session ends with a performance opportunity to
"work a crowd" and try out your material on a live audience!
Improv for Teens (ages 13+)
- This improvisation class is geared for the
13 and older crowd. At the end of this session, a Whose Line Is It Anyway - type
performance will be presented.
Auditioning I (ages 6-8; ages 9-12)
- Auditioning for roles takes practice.
So this class is geared to introduce the young actor to the fine art of auditioning.
Cold readings, wardrobe, makeup, and more make up this essential class.
Auditioning II (ages 13+)
- Audition, audition, audition. Practice, practice,
practice. Actors hone their auditioning skills through many mock auditions.
Workshop Intensives
- Each quarter, The Texas Theatre Academy hosts practicing
professionals from the theatre industry for a Saturday workshop Intensive. Participants
will take part in mock auditions and receive critiques - and leave with an 8 x
10 headshot.
